First time here , had breakfast. Great menu and staff, friendly, fun photos all around. Most breakfasts are generous portions, so split one, the International Eggs Benedict more then enough ....wonderful presentation , fresh sliced fruit and made to order!!!!! This will be on the list every time !!!!!!

Best breakfast we had on our vacation to Folly Beach/Charleston. Very friendly environment and great food! I had the fried green tomato eggs benedict which was fantastic. Very laid back and neat restaurant.

A must visit every time I come to Charleston! Home fries used to be better...deep fried now; they were much better done on the flat top.

Best place ever!! I love mimosa Monday's! Best servers best breakfast food ever.

  • Mary D.

Great place! I got their fruit and yogurt parfait, and it was the best one i've ever had! Fresh, large chunks of fruit [peaches, blueberries, strawberries, etc.] It was, however, through no fault of their own, extremely muggy outside which made the dining expirience rough. The baked goods are seriously delicious and the coffee is perky and not too strong. I wear my Lost Dog t-shirt around here and everyone asks about it. I would consider going back everyday if I didn't like 900+ miles away!

I love breakfast food, and this was very good. Great facility, well decorated (particularly for dog lovers). Can get very busy after 10 am. The breakfast burrito was excellent, as was a special croissant/egg/bacon breakfast sandwich. If you're anywhere close to Folly, go to the Lost Dog; you won't be disappointed.

The Lost Dog is THE place for breakfast or brunch and lunch on Folly Beach. It's just a couple of blocks from the beach and attire is casual. There is an outdoor seating area that welcomes dogs, and you will see a lot of dogs! They're probably hoping for a nibble of whatever Master is having because the food is great. Mostly standard breakfast/brunch fare but all prepared carefully and very tasty. My cousin raves over the French Toast, pancakes, and mahi salad. My aunts pick up freshly baked muffins every day that they are on Folly. My daughter loves the breakfast burrito (huge) and the breakfast parfait My husband craves their coffee and the daily breakfast special. An array of sandwiches, wraps and salads are available as well. We usually eat so much at breakfast that we have no room left for lunch! If at all possible you should walk to the Lost Dog as parking is minimal. You'll probably have to wait for a table during high vacation season but there's a very pleasant outdoor waiting space with some seating. And there's always dog-watching for entertainment. Be advised that they do close at 3:00 every day. Because you don't want to be left scratching at the door and whining to be let in.

Really cute, little cafe with indoor/outdoor seating on Folly Road. Lots of locals. Great place to get a quick, cheap, yummy breakfast or lunch. Very casual. The waitresses are great. Dog friendly if you sit outside - they have biscuits for them inside.

Great food, friendly service. Banana bread fench toast is the bezt I have had. Make sure to reserve your spot before coming. It is very crowded!

I would crawl one mile through broken glass just to be able to sniff their salmon BLT again...the fried green tomatoes made it so unique. The restaurant has a laid back vibe...beach casual. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Also it doesn't hurt that the restaurant's walls are covered entirely in adorable dog photos!

  • Jay D.

Went here for breakfast. Great food. Yeah, there was a wait on a Sunday morning but you can order a Bloody Mary/Mimosa/coffee and enjoy it while you wait. Bonus: they serve your drinks in little mason jars!

Delicious and relaxing breakfast at Lost Dog Cafe. The perfect remedy after a night of drinking. Shrimp grits were a favorite as were the home-fries. The scene is quaint and the wait-staff was friendly! Thanks for a great experience!!

The Lost Dog's new location is a stand alone building with outdoor seating on the front porch, and an additional pet-friendly side patio for those who must have brunch with their dog. The decor is also dog-oriented. The walls are covered with photos of happy dogs romping in the surf... but don't get any ideas, unless you're willing to risk a $500 fine for breaking Folly's strict leash law. Open for breakfast and lunch, the Lost Dog's menu is just on the lighter side of your average brunch spot. Vegetarians will manage, but should ask questions. Some items, including the grits, are made with chicken stock. The coffee menu is extensive, ranging from espresso to Oregon chai. In flip-flop season (approximately 9 months of the year), you'll have to wait for a table, if you can even find a parking space.

First time I have ever had grits and they were definitely not a disappointment. The specials were amazing, great service, and despite how crowded the place was our group got seated so quickly! The atmosphere is amazing and I would instantly recommend this place to anyone

Best breakfast on Folly, hands down. Usually a good wait, unless you are an early riser. You simply have to try the Huevos Rancheros - outstanding!! Fresh coffee is great, the best wait service on Folly - those ladys really hussle!! We will be back!!

YUM! Such a cute atmosphere for a laid back breakfast near the beach. We had excellent service, they were willing to customize menu options, and the food was wonderful - especially for the price.

We had a really good breakfast with our pups. Laid back atmosphere, very pleasant and service was fine. No complaints.

The atmosphere was awesome, we ate outside on the deck and had mimosa's with our light lunches before the day at the beach. The service was quick the food was great and it was all reasonably priced.

I found the Lost Dog on my yelp app glad we walked the extra couple blocks to find it... Had lunch there and ate the chicken salad sandwich on crossiant and it was awesome.. cool laid back vibe with attention to every detail on the food.. Pricing was much better too than the other local spots.. Going to come back there for sure..

Kitschy but charming breakfast joint offered us delicious coffee and light breakfast fare like a sausge/egg/cheese croissant and cream cheese bagel, we both enjoyed the cheese grits too.

I would have to say this is my absolute favorite place to eat on folly! And I don't even own a dog, I love animals and the pictures on the walls of all the dogs people own are so cute and funny! The atmosphere is perfect and in walking distance from my family's beach home. Everything I have ever eaten here has been excellent, and the staff is super laid back and friendly (kind of a signature of folly beach). I highly recommend!

  • John L.

Great breakfast specials and awesome service. We enjoyed the Folly Benedict, Brioche French Toast with peaches and pecans and we split a side of the best biscuits and sausage gravy I've ever had. Fresh fruit served was perfect. Coffee was excellent and served in big mugs. Like it should be! We returned a total of three times during our week stay - definitely THE breakfast place to go!

  • Leanne B.

This was one of our best stops on our recent trip to the Charleston area. We enjoyed the atmosphere, breakfast was excellent and everyone was nice. I felt like we were on a Caribbean island or something! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who just likes to sit back and enjoy their surroundings. Oh yeah, the coffee was excellent! I noticed a lot of locals just stopping in to get coffee.

  • Joe H.

I'm from the North East and based on prior reviews this place did not meet expectations. The Good: The wait was 20 minutes (reasonable) French toast was all right Complimentary coffee refills Relatively inexpensive The NOT so good: Orange juice come in a tropicana bottle Coffee comes with grounds floating on top The home fries were more like croutons. They do not serve omelets (and will not make them) Conclusion: Not worth the wait but give it a shot if you've been everywhere else.

  • Jaclyn R.

Excellent!! Breakfast and drinks - you just cant get any better than that. Food was excellent and my bloody mary was the best i've had in Charleston. We sat outside with our bulldog and had such a great time. Wait staff was fast and friendly. LOVE this place!

  • James C.

This is just outstanding. We've visited Folly for several years and the Lost Dog has been open 7 now, I think. Breakfast at the lost dog is one of the joys of visiting Folly - for the delicious food, the warmth of the staff, or the ability to bring your dog and sit outside. All the food items are great, from The Loyal Companion, eggs, meat, and toast - to specials like blueberry pancakes or croissant French toast.

  • Amber H.

Our favorite place I'm the world! We eat here at least once a week. The staff is extremely friendly and provide fast service most of the time. The weekends are ALWAYS crazy busy and during the summer they are busy just about every morning but its well worth the wait. You can sit at the bar, which is first come first serve or leave your name with the hostess, grab a drink from the to-go counter and wait (we've never waited more than 20 minutes). The food is always consistently amazing...there biscuits and gravy are absolutely the BEST I've ever had. We also love the banana bread French toast, it's just amazing! It's on their specials menu frequently but we've been begging for them to add it to their regular menu. There meat quiche is always good as well. If you like coffee, they make amazing cappuccinos as well, and carry a wide variety of sugar-free flavored syrups. On Mondays they also do $3 mason jar mimosas in assorted flavors that are outstanding!

Lost Dog is a great breakfast spot. Their Shrimp and grits are delicious, really fresh tasty shrimp, they are high in cholesterol but sh-t you're on vacation! Great pancakes and french toast, eggs benedict you gotta love it! And for your K-9 a porch that keeps them happy with biscuits and treats from sweet hippy type waitresses it's awesome,I love lost dog, my dog Mookie's picture hangs inside and she loves her celebrity status at the Lost Dog Cafe! Our house is just a block away so it is an easy walk for both of us. I had the blue berry pancakes today with real maple syrup! don't miss the lost dog, it's the best!

This restaurant offers great food, great service, and a great atmosphere at reasonable prices. The restaurant is small but does offer out door seating. I wouldn't recommend going with a large group.

Solid breakfast food. Dog decor does nothing for me, but appreciate it for actual dog lovers.

  • Cat P.

Food is consistently good. Try the awesome cinnamon role for a special treat--fantastic. Dog-friendly. Great atmosphere. Go before 10am (and order your cinnamon role before 10:30) for less of a wait on the weekend.

Had lost dog for breakfast, very tasty. My husband had the special, vegetable quiche with grits and fruit, what a deal, and he said it was very good. Friendly service and wide selection. I would recommend this place and I will go back to try their lunch.

The Lost Dog is our annual stop for breakfast on the way out of Folly. It has been a consistently good experience. This morning started with a tasty Mimosa. After that the Folly Benedict. Outstanding. Crab cake, shrimp cake, English muffin, Hollandaise, poached eggs, asparagus and onions. The cakes had a fresh flavor. The shrimp and grits were reported to be excellent, French toast was also reported to be very good. Service was excellent. There has been a line every year. They also really like dogs and as a family with 4 rescue mutts and this increases the great experiences we have had at the Lost Dog.

Thoroughly delicious breakfast! Parking is tough, waited about 10 mins for a seat (not bad). We had 1) shrimp & grits (very high praise for the grits especially, but great overall), 2) breakfast burrito with shrimp (HUGE, delicious with a few too many peppers for my son--so he picked some out!), 3) a bagel with peanut butter (the non- breakfast person) and 4) a breakfast wrap special (spinach, 1 eggs over easy, cheese, bacon, and more). All were very, very good and served hot. After we were served, however, service fully slacked off. We had one obligatory check-in, but then had to ask for any drink refills that we wanted. A bit disappointing. Also, given its casual outdoor vibe, we asked that the overhead fan be turned on (to minimize the ever-present flies). The reply? "Oh, that fans broken". Really? In an outdoor beach spot? C'mon, folks!! Enjoyed it, would go again but would want to sit under/near a working fan.

Quality of food: Very good. Flavor of food: Great. Customer Service: 5 stars. The hosts and server we had were quick and attentive. VALUE: Good So here's what we ordered: Crabcake and Shrimpcake Eggs Benedict - hollandaise sauce was what you'd expect, but the crab and shrimp cakes were very good. The eggs were done perfectly, as well. The side of fruit included kiwi, banana, orange sliced flat (perfect), ripe strawberries, and thinly sliced apples. Banana Chocolate Chip Pancakes - these were good, and with a banana sauce that definitely raised them up a notch. The syrup was served cold, but this could easily be remedied. I'd get these again. CONCLUSION: I can't help but feel that this is where the locals go to get a good breakfast. The prices are fair, and the food is very good.

I stopped by the Lost Dog for an early breakfast just after 7:30 AM on a Saturday morning. That early there was no wait even for a party of five, but even then the place was nearing full. I loved the décor- with all the pictures of dogs on the wall. For dog lovers, this place is a must. We sat inside, but there is also outdoor seating (where I believe your dog can join you). I ordered the french toast and a coffee. The french toast was covered with plenty of fresh strawberries and the syrup was really good (the real stuff!). Service was great and coffee refills were offered promptly when our mugs ran low. Despite the fact that it was getting busy our service never suffered. Food came out fast but we didn't feel rushed away from our table. It does seem to be a very busy, touristy place in the summer months- especially on the weekends. By the time we left at about 8:45 there was a wait. I would say if you can get in early enough or during a less hectic time, it would be a good place to go for breakfast!

  • Charlie P.

Lost Dog Cafe is by far the most popular place to dine for brunch or lunch on Folly Beach. While there is always a wait, the fun atmosphere and yummy food makes it worth while. Whether you decide to bring your pooch along or not, I recommend their breakfast burrito or any of their wraps, such as their Southern Style BLT with fried green tomatoes. Sit on the sunny patio and make sure to order one of their mason jar mimosas if on a weekend. Their Pimosa with sparkling wine and pomegranate juice makes any Sunday instantly better. Must order items: Breakfast Burrito Blackened Salmon BLT wrap Southern Style BLT Biscuits & Gravy Mason Jar Mimosa

This is about my 3rd visit where I actually got in. This place has a great following and this was Saturday morning and a big brunch crowd. Even crazier we got on the waiting list with our friends about 20 minutes away. Was surprised to get a spot in 10 minutes. They asked if our entire party was there and we told them they are real close and they were nice enough to seat us. We were a little uncomfortable with some of the looks we got from the hostess and then when a waitress said something about it we were made a little more uncomfortable but thankfully the rest of our party showed within a minute or so after that. But enough about that. Let's talk food and service. I got the special with Corned Beef hash and a fried egg on top. I am on this goofy protein diet, wholefoods only, no dairy kick, etc so hard to order anything at some places but this one was right up my wheelhouse and what a great plate of food! Ample portion with a little cheese on it but picked most of it off. The waitress was wonderful, coming back just enough to make us comfortable and have continued beverage and checking on other things. We had a great morning and really everyone seemed to love their food. Good portions. Even took home some of my wife's breakfast and ate later. This is pretty much a can't miss place. So close to a 5 but even though we may have been wrong to have taken the seats without the rest of our party the waitress that did say something made it a 4. Otherwise, go and enjoy, and expect a wait but worth it.

Lost Dog is so awesome! Obviously dog friendly, and the food is great. We came here for brunch and were seated inside right away. Our server came over and took our drink orders. My husband and I each ordered a mimosa, which were $3. Our server brought the drinks over and said he would be right back to take our food order. It took him quite a while to come back and he didn't really check on us at all after our food came, but they were busy so I'm sure he got caught up with other tables. I ordered the French toast with fresh strawberries. Pretty basic, but delicious nonetheless. It's also huge. I ordered a side of bacon as well, which I didn't need. I also didn't need the side order of biscuit with gravy my husband I ordered the share, but we wanted to try it out. Next time we eat here, I'll probably get that instead. The biscuit was super fluffy and the gravy was awesome. The entire restaurant is covered in photos of customer's dogs. Basically, if you give them a framed picture of your dog, they'll hang it up. How adorable is that? Aside from our so-so server, the food was great and the atmosphere was inviting. Best breakfast we had in Folly!

This was such a pleasant surprise in Folly Beach! We stopped here for brunch on our way out of town. Their brunch selection is great with many meat and vegetarian options. I tried the shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, and had huevos rancheros grande for my entree. Everything was good but the item that really stood out was the cinnamon roll. We ordered two for a table of 9 people and they were devoured instantly! Coffee and Bloody Mary's were good as well. Overall good brunch spot. If you are a dog-lover or owner you will especially love this place for its pet-friendly atmosphere and walls covered with dog photos from their clients.

Lose your dog, get amazing food? DONE! AMAZING food and the people are great! I guess it's really that the Lost Dog is AUTHENTIC. There is charm and a welcoming atmosphere, but it's not overkill and not fake - like some of the downtown restaurants that try to cultivate "southern charm." As another reviewer said, the Lost Dog is an institution! From it's original location on Center Street to it's new Location on Huron.. dogs, cats, birds, humans and all the rest will continue to follow and patronize the "Dog." And if they moved to a hammock island in the middle of the salt marsh with no road access... we'd surely swim there! The breakfast burrito is a STEAL! Great flavor and ingredients, fills you up, is about the size of our head, and is about $6.00!! The HUEVOS RANCHEROS is the BEST! So yummmmmy! Cheese and bean tortilla, pepppers, onions and black beans, with eggs on top... what could be better!? All of the Benedict's are very good, even though I'm not a "Benedict" person. There are two separate outdoor areas that allow dogs and are super comfortable. A favorite of almost everyone I've known who has gone here, but piles up BIG time during tourist season, summer mornings and weekends (so... almost always). If you can figure out how to get there during an off-season weekday... do it!

A review for the to-go coffee bar! (right as you walk in, end of bar) Lost Dog Cafe is very popular with tourists and locals alike -- as evidenced by the weekend crowds and groups of diners waiting for a table (not to worry though, everyone seems pretty chill!). It's charming with a robust menu and friendly staff. However on my short visit to the Folly Beach area, I ate most of my meals in (thanks to a brother and husband who like to cook), but managed a quick jaunt over here for some caffeine. A perfectly dirty iced chai (for the novices -- "dirty" just means it has a few shots of espresso) kept me cool and moving forward all day, despite the fact that I'd been up since 6am. Served with a smile. My mom had breakfast here and said it was delightful, so believe the reviews fellow yelpers, Lost Dog Cafe is where you can find all you need to feel at home.

This place was buzzing this morning before I hit the beach! Cute theme (dogs) with a tasty menu. I went with the basics- eggs, bacon and sausage- and went with their cinnamon roll. The description alone has me curious! The food was good. The atmosphere was fun (and busy)! I recommend going if you're in the area, especially before hitting a long hot day at the beach!

Great restaurant in FB. Have been here several times and have really enjoyed the food. Meals are very nicely prepared, and hit the spot. It's a little loud inside but if u can tolerate the heat the patio is very nice. Dogs are welcome. The staff is sometimes stretched thin during the busy times.

  • Jeremy F.

Our family ordered from both the breakfast and lunch menu and let me tell you that we were not disappointed. Their cinnamon roll is light and flavorful, their fish is fresh, their food is southern. Not only that, but their staff is friendly and the food came out quickly! How can you beat that?

This cute restaurant has been a long-time favorite of mine for many years. I fell in love with it again recently as I went for lunch instead of my usual breakfast visit. If you want to experience the true Folly Beach culture, a visit to the Lost Dog is a must. 3 words: Tuna BLT Wrap. This is on the menu as the salmon BLT wrap but I had them do it with Tuna instead and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone at our table had clean plates and full bellies!!! Bonus- the outdoor seating makes this place dog friendly! So bring Fido and get your grub on!

During a work trip to Charleston, I wanted to at least see the beach so I went after work and grabbed a meal at Lost Dog Cafe. It was a gorgeous day out so I sat outside and enjoyed the breeze. I never went inside but the patio was nice and clean and they had water bowls sitting out for dogs. I ordered the blackened salmon blt wrap and watermelon salad. The wrap was the best wrap I have ever had. It had the perfect amount of salmon along with fried green tomatoes, bacon, romaine, and cajun mayo. Holy moly I loved every bite! The watermelon salad was light and refreshing. The server was attentive and helped me choose the wrap. All in all, if I'm ever back in Charleston, I'll definitely be making a stop at Lost Dog Cafe!

Such an awesome spot! You must stop by when you are in town even if you don't have a dog. We brought our dog and they asked that even though it may rain of we wanted to sit in the side under the trees, we did and it started to pour and they quickly accommodated us in no time! Really amazing staff, so friendly and fast! The food was amazing as well, the eggs Benedict special was to die for! Great prices as well! We will be back!

Dined outside, which is the only reason I even rated it with two stars. Ordered the lemon poppyseed cakes with blueberry compote and strawberries....coffee to drink. The coffee was seriously the most watered down coffee u have ever had. Also, the waitress didn't offer a warm up even one time throughout. The compote was nothing but sweet in a bland way, the strawberries were completely tasteless and the pancakes were dense and dry, and only had the slightest hint of lemon. Overall, very disappointed, as the reviews I read were so great.

If you're visiting Folly Beach, and you have a dog, apparently this is the place to come. Just off the main throughway, this little gem has a wrap-around outdoor patio for you and fido to get plenty of carbs for your beach walk, or recover from your swim. The food is great, typical southern style brunch and lunch, nicely served quickly and with a smile, plus the lemonades are served in jam-jars, so what's not to love. If I had to be really picky, I'd say some fans or scented candles would be welcome given the tendency for the midges to gather on the walls, but otherwise this place really does stand out. Especially if you have a four-legged friend! Did I mention, they welcome dogs!

Well after being back many more times I will say that I think the service has gotten a bit faster and the food really is great, I still think it's a bit over rated for the crazy lines that they get but hey, good for them if they can generate the business!!! I still just can't come to give 5 stars because of my egg white experience but the place is really good and should be tried at least once on a visit to folly. Just for reference I would estimate I have eaten here at least 40 times over the last 8 years so this comes from a lot of real experience.

  • Melissa M.

Cute quirky little place with a breakfast heavy menu. We tried the chicken salad sandwich on toast and a quesadilla. The salad came with a side and I chose pasta - mainly noodles with a little olives. The sandwich was made with fresh chicken with some celery and grapes. It was good but nothing outstanding. The quesadilla was huge and good. I have a feeling if we'd tried breakfast it would have been 4 stars. I think they're strength is the breakfast and brunch menu but ours was still good.

I went to The Lost Dog with friends today and I will be back. Despite all the people there, it was only a 20 minute wait. I had the Blackened Salmon BLT with bacon, fried green tomatoes and lettuce. It was heavenly!! My side salad was the dill cucumber salad. It was so good. To drink, I had a pom mimosa. It was okay. I could bearly taste any pomegranate. My other complaint was that our waiter was only semi attentive. One of my friends had ordered a glass of tea and we had to remind him and he brought it in a plastic cup.

Love this place & atmosphere! Cinnamon roll... Awesome! You must get it! Thai wrap... Awesome! Coffee... Weak but good flavor (I can be snobby when it comes to coffee, though). Parking is a B, but it shouldn't stop ya! Check it out!

  • Lauton S.

Always good, everytime, worth the wait. And you can bring your dog! My favorites are the burrito, the BLT, and the huevos rancheros. The service is fast too, it services like a diner and they do a lot of business so they dont want tables just sitting. The portions are more than ample, I always finish mine but I never leave hungry, it's that good.

Stopped in while visiting Charleston with the family, since we and wanted to check out Folly. For all the praise and stars restaurants in the city get, this was the best meal we had. Shrimp and grits were excellent, biscuits and gravy were spicy and creamy, French toast was crisp and flavorful. I'd give it six if I could!

What can you say the Lost dog is over the top great. The food fresh with savory ingredients. We eat there at least twice every trip to Folly. The fresh muffins are a delightful, I always get the Folly beach breakfast wrap. Don't pass it by there fabulous. Wait staff second to none very pleasant and always on there game

Best breakfast spot in town. This place is always packed, and yes there is a wait, but it is so worth it! Come early, expect parking to be a bit of a hassle. The service is excellent and so is the food. The ambience is great as well.

We had gotten some trusted advice to make sure we did brunch at Lost Dog during our recent stay in Charleston. So Sunday morning found us heading down to Folly Beach hungry and anxious to check it out. The crowd waiting outside didn't deter us as we got our names on the wait list and were told it would be 30 minutes. Turns out it was slightly less than that. The service was superb and the place runs like a well oiled machine - everyone seemed to pitch in and pick up dirty dishes as they walked by, refill water glasses, etc. My Bloody Mary (what's brunch without a Bloody Mary?) was served in a mason jar and was spicy and strong just the way I like it! My wife's mimosa was served the same way and was delicious. The menu offers so many things that looked amazing but I went with the corned beef hash (one of my faves!) with poached eggs cooked to perfection. The corned beef was cut into strips and was awesome. I would definitely order that again! I left stuffed and content. A great place! And it's dog friendly!!! That pushes them to 5+ stars in my book! Plus the wall is filled with photos of people's dogs. Great atmosphere. Make it a point of getting here! You'll love it!!!

Best breakfast on folly. $3 mimosas in a mason jar on Mondays. There's usually a wait but it's worth it. They serve lunch too but breakfast is so good I've never wandered to the other side of the menu. Specialty pancakes and French toast is always a great decision.

My mom and I stopped here after doing a 3-hour kayaking tour at Outdoor Adventures up the road (two of the guides recommended it) and it was an amazing choice. It was Memorial Day weekend so parking was a little bit of a hassle but once we got the the restaurant, they took down my name and within 5 minutes they had us in. I thought it was pretty incredible considering how many people were there. The staff was super friendly, A+ for service! The food was so good. I ordered the Thai wrap with chicken and the side of home fries sautéed in garlic and onions. I don't know which one I liked more, because I cleaned my plate and that doesn't normally happen. My mom ordered a Mahi salad with little pieces of mango throughout. She loved her meal and said the Mahi was fantastic. Atmosphere was laid back with a comfortable noise level. Loved it!!!

The reviews are spot on with this one! The bacon grease grits are the best I have ever had!! The service was quick and pleasant. I wish I could go everyday!!!

Atmosphere, service and food all on point. Large portions, large cups of good coffee and prompt service. Parking is a little tricky. Mostly street parking and it gets very busy there and I'm told long lines in the weekends. Would rate #1 breakfast spot on Folly

breakfast recently....so there was a wait but it was mimosa monday so everyone was there.....neat, very busy spot, some inside some outside seating....everyone really enjoyed their food, breakfast menus and lots of dog pictures....excellent!!

Neat atmosphere at this Folly Beach establishment. Like dogs? That's good, because (I believe) you can bring your pup, or check out one of the 4,327 pictures of dogs (that's just an estimate - I didn't count) on the wall. I had the Folly Benedict (Eggs Benedict with crab cakes) and they were great! Good coffee (black) made the meal complete. Our server (Joanna?) was more than competent, and genuinely seemed happy to wait on our table. The rest of my party had the traditional eggs benedict, banana bread french toast, and the southern style BLT. Nobody had anything negative to say about their meal; nobody had much to say at all, since we were all busy scarfing down our food :) Parking is extremely limited - most people seem to just park on the side of the street. Overall, I'd definitely make a return trip to The Lost Dog Cafe on my next time in Folly Beach.

We sat down right away even though it was very busy. We ordered blueberry muffin hueveros rancheros with the green sauce, eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs. The staff is very friendly. The food was excellent. The waitress brought us fried green tomato to try. Delicious. We will be back again this week.

Everything about this place is perfect. From the staff to the location to THE BEST FOOD EVER!!! Everything on the menu is worth five stars! Get there and get on the list bc the wait (sometimes up to an hour or more) is so worth the experience and deliciousness that is Lost Dog Cafe!

Delish little spot in Folly. Expect a bit of a wait. They advertise bloodies in mason jars...ours came in plastic. The food was delish. Quiches, grits, benedict...YUMMY!

This place is awesome! Such a relaxed environment, and obviously you can bring your dog haha. The banana bread French toast is the best French toast I've ever had(and that's what I try at every restaurant I go to!) Its so moist and full of flavor! The breakfast potatoes are really flavorful and garlicy! Their lunch is also great and you get a lot for the prices! Definitely my favorite place to eat on folly!

Breakfast anyone? Been here many times. This is it, quick, good, great service, short wait even though I suggest you get their early. If you do not like dogs, don't go. Everywhere you look, animal pictures, people with dogs. Frank G

Great restaurant, wait was supposed to be 15 minutes but the seated my group of 5 in 2. The service the good and the food was even better. I had the Breakfast Burrito with green chile smothered on it, not spicy at all so if you wanted it to be add your own hot sauce. Atmosphere was very laid back and you get to see the cutest dogs also!

A fun atmosphere with lots of hangings to look at, and great food. You can also get cool t-shirts here to take home for gifts. We went several times while at Folly Beach, rather than trying out other places!

The Lost Dog Café is a Folly Beach institution that has enjoyed a lot of success over the years, all on the back of being a great place for breakfast and lunch. I really don't make it out there very often, simply because I live downtown and rarely find myself out at folly anymore, but you really can't go wrong. I stopped in over the weekend and had an eggs benedict that was executed nicely and had a little twist by adding fried green tomatoes. Lunch options are fantastic as well and I highly recommend the chicken salad on a croissant. Overall, Lost Dog is a favorite among locals and visitors alike and worth your time to make a visit.

Cute little cafe in Folly Beach. Great breakfast. Go early to avoid the long lines. Breakfast Burrito with the green sauce is excellent. Next time i'm in Charleston, ill look this place up again.

OK, I have to preface this review with a couple things: 1.) My breakfast partner and I have both worked in the food service industry waiting tables 2.) I am hesitant to give 5 stars because I'm afraid that people's expectations are raised to unrealistic levels, but let me tell you, the Lost Dog cafe definitely deserves 5 stars. Our experience was so good on Saturday that we came back on Sunday for another round, even though I was a little nervous that our first experience was too good --a fluke-- and could not possibly be matched on our second trip, but it was!! The place was incredible busy both visits, however it runs like a very well oiled machine. There are wait staff, cooks, and bussers all over the place, but this leads to hot food that is ready fairly quickly. During both trips there was a wait of around 30 min for a table, but both times we were able to snag a couple seats at the bar within 5-10 min. These are the best seats anyway because you get to see all the action. Between the 2 meals and 2 of us we tried: the breakfast burrito w/sausage (5 stars, very filling), international egg's Benedict (5 stars, fried green tomatoes are a nice touch), blueberry granola pancakes (out of this world), and eggs over easy, plus two muffins (blue berry and cappuccino chip, both awesome) and an iced mocha and an iced latte. Everything tasted amazing and all served with great service. I will definitely be back next time I'm at Folly Beach!

Everything at Lost Dog is AMAZING. My boyfriend has been coming to Folly for 15 years and this is favorite restaurant in town...we visited every day on our most recent trip. Must try the collard greens and everything else on the menu!

Folks, this is one of those rare places that combines delicious, original food with a fun atmosphere and great character. There is a reason that they sell so many t-shirts. Located in Folly Beach, it is appropriately placed - a fun little place in a sleepy beach town. But if you are staying anywhere in the Charleston area, make it a point to get up earlier one morning and drive over for a real treat. Breakfast is the specialty. Try one of the amazing delights such as granola pancakes, or huevos rancheros with Siracha sauce, while you smile looking at all of the pictures of canine friends that adorn the walls. Everything is delicious. If you are not from the south, try a side of grits or a fluffy biscuit to go with one of the daily special entrees. Good for families and kids. Plenty of outdoor seating if you want to bring your special 4-legged friend for a sunny morning nosh fest. They also serve an awesome lunch, but trust me - you won't want to miss breakfast, and you will barely have room for anything else the rest of the day.

Yummy breakfast, pretty outdoor seating, and cute dog pictures everywhere! My husband and I ordered a blueberry muffin, the sausage/bacon/squash/zucchini quiche with grits and fruit, and the shrimp cake/crab cake eggs benedict. We would recommend all of what we ordered. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the grits were tasty, and the fruit was nice with it. The shrimp cake was amazing. We will try to go back before leaving Folly Beach.

During our honeymoon stay in Charleston over a week's time, Lost Dog was the only breakfast/brunch spot my wife and I visited more than once. So so good in every respect--a wait staff with great advice and attitude-free, plenty of comfortable and cozy outdoor and indoor seating. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu (based on both the four items my wife and I sampled, and the comments from tables around us) and you won't pay too much for too little. Bring your dog, bring your children, bring anyone you enjoy spending time with.

Recently went to Folly Beach with our puppy and was looking for a place to eat breakfast when a local told us about Lost Dog Cafe. I am so glad that they did. This was probably one of the best breakfast meals that I have ever had! My wife had the Folly Benedict special with a shrimp cake and crab cake added to your muffin and poached egg, and I had the huevos rancheros and a side of biscuits and gravy. The food was amazing and the service was up there with it. Offering water for our little pup and keeping a smile on their faces even when dogs got loud, I was very impressed with level of service. If we are ever in the area again this will be a required stop for breakfast!

I had brunch at this cafe today and the food was great! The only reason I didn't give the lost dog 5 stars is because I think they need a better drink selection. I do realize, however, space is an issue and they can't have a full bar. I had the eggs Benedict and I love how it came with a nice variety of fresh fruit!! Also loved the fried green tomato on the otherwise traditional eggs Benedict and the hollandaise that topped it off was perfect!! Will definitely visit this place again!

I was in the area for a friend's wedding and was recommended to try Lost Dog. After my experience, I'm sad that I may never be able to experience their awesomeness ever again! I had the shrimp and grits which were amazing!! Besides Stone's Cove, they were the best grits I've ever had! My fiance had the banana bread french toast. I was lucky to nab a bite! My friend had a breakfast burrito. We also indulged in the spirits. I had a ginger bourbon and she had the iced Bailey's latte. At the table, we had a classic mimosa. I'm sure there was OJ somewhere in there! :) The wait staff were all very attentive and accommodating. I may have to make another weekend trip JUST to come back here!

This is the best breakfast place on Folly and they also have a pretty solid lunch menu. I highly recommend the breakfast burrito with the pork green chile sauce. It is in my top ten of breakfast dishes I've ever had. For lunch definitely get the She-Crab soup if it is available, you won't be disappointed.

  • Jessica C.

Our food was great! Everyone at the table got the eggs Benedict special with crab cake and shrimp cake. The place is super cute with pictures of dogs all over the wall. I will definitely give this place another shot if I'm in the area again. The food and atmosphere was great. The only complaint... I wanted my eggs over medium instead of poached and they came out poached. The problem was fixed fast. Also my waitress wasn't very tentative... She never refilled our drinks and we had to flag her down to tell her about my eggs. She only came to table to get our order and drop off the check. The place seamed pretty busy but I'm a waitress and I at least refill drinks once and check on the table after the food has been dropped to make sure everything came out correctly.

Always have a long wait. If you aren't real hungry, its not a bad thing. Food is really good for breakfast or lunch. Charming interior if you are a dog fan and I am. Excellent porch for you and your pooch as well.

I went on a leisure relaxation trip by myself to Charleston, and this was my very first stop as soon as I arrived. This place most definitely deserves five stars! The place is so cozy. I felt like this was a place all locals go to. Parking was not that easy, I had to park next block over by the gas station across then street. It was a Monday morning when I came here. The place looked packed, but I got seated instantaneously. I ordered the sweet potato pancakes and crab cake Benedict, which were both specials for the day. The food came out pretty quick and came out very very delicious! You can easily taste the freshness of the crab in the crab cake! The sweet potato pancakes were to die for. You can taste the chunks of sweet potatoes in it. And it wasn't too heavy, in spite of me smothering it with their oh so sweet but light maple syrup. The servers were so kind! They were so friendly and accommodating. Great service, overall.

:( Man I wasn't floored and that made me sad. I was expecting fireworks, I got a match. I'm an avid YELPER and I love going out to eat, especially on vacation, and especially when it's not on my dime (I'm vacationing w/ my parents for my mom's bday). Anyhow, I thought this place was just OK for me. We got there before 9 am on a Sunday morning and expected a wait b/c I have read the reviews. ALL the locals told us outside that it is one of the few places that is open before 10 am on Sunday, so that just seems silly to me, and explains why it's so busy. Our wait time was 15 mins, not bad at all. Sat down and ordered our coffee, you have to ask for Splenda b/c they hide it, but they do have it!!!!! Definitely not the best shrimp 'n grits I've had, in fact I wouldn't put it in the top 5, and maybe not even in the top 10. Perhaps, I have ordered this dish way too many times on my travels and perhaps NOLA has spoiled me. My shrimp appeared to have been frozen prior and were on the underdone side, but were still very chewy, they were on the smaller side, and very fishy. There was just a few pieces of bacon (like maybe a half a strip of bacon in total) and there was not much sauce at all. There was also not much of it, the bowl is wide but very shallow, and for $11.99 I was under-wow'ed. Dad ordered the breakfast burrito, with shrimp (add $4), covered in green chile sauce (add $2) and had a $15 breakfast burrito by the time he was down. Again, I wasn't floored with this, it needed more sauce, wasn't spicy at all, and again the shrimp were fishy. Mom got the banana bread french toast, hers was the tastiest of the lot, she was a clean platter. Had the dish not been so reminiscent of dessert she would've qualified. Dad and I however left some on our plates. I'm going to give this another try, perhaps I ordered the wrong thing, we are here for a week, and their lunch specials looked awesome. So wait for my update, b/c maybe I just had a bad first showing. I also thought that some *not all* of their dishes were grossly overpriced, sans breakfast burrito.

I love the Bagel and Lox ( I get it on a croissant). The yogurt parfait is delicious as well. Service is pretty good. They are always so busy when I go, but it's worth taking the dog and walking on the beach afterwards.

  • David P.

Had breakfast here this morning and it was delicious. The coffee is strong and tasty. Not a detraction just a note - the mimosas are made with a dry, not sweet, sparkling wine. I had the juevos rancheros grande and am nothing but impressed. The base is a fried quesadilla rather than traditional tortillas but the cheese really complimented the chile con carne. Along with pickled jalapeños and sour cream the dish is rich, creamy, and moderately spicy. To top that off the eggs were cooked perfectly with plenty of fresh diced tomato. Only thing I could think to change is fresh instead of pickled jalapeño but that's probably just me. If you're in Folly Beach, stop in here for breakfast...you won't regret it. Show up early though (we sat at the bar to avoid waiting 15 minutes) as it seems like this place is packed on a regular basis.

Lost Dog Cafe, I foresee myself spending plenty of time on your awesome porch and dog photo lined booths over the next year. Lost Dog Cafe offers everything you could ever want in a beach brunch/lunch spot, and even moreso in a brunch/lunch spot offered anywhere. Yes, anywhere. Ultimately, it's just even more awesome since it's that much closer to the sand and surf. Phenomenal huge front porch where you can enjoy your food? Check. Bottomless mimosas (in mason jars nonetheless)? Check. Great, freshly prepared food? Check. (I had the huevos rancheros and they were simply amazing) Friendly staff? Check. On the ball coffee refills? Check. Draft brews? Check. You get the point. Plus as the icing on the cake, the walls and support beams are adorned with framed photos of dogs and dog related quotes. Dog friendly? I would say so. Oh you're a cat person? Well, that's a shame. BUT I did notice a few pics of cats on the walls as well, so I think you could swing it. If you are anywhere near the Folly Beach area, this is clearly your go-to brunch spot. Thus, expect long wait times on weekends and during the peak season. But it's worth it. I guarantee it.

Breakfast was so tasty yesterday, I had Juevos Rancheros Grande, that we had to go back again today. The Eggs Benedict was every bit as delicious, and my wife said her pancakes were the best she had ever eaten. The staff was very courteous and friendly and the restaurant was clean and pleasant, even the outdoor tables, which is quite a feat considering they allow dogs and even have multiple doggie water bowls scattered throughout the outdoor table areas. Congrats on great execution of a novel concept. We are only here a week, and I am sure we will be breakfasting there again before we leave.

Extremely busy but we got lucky with seats at the countertop. We waited awhile to be acknowledged and waited awhile for our food (the guy next to us was seated after us, ate, and paid before our food even arrived). The food was worth it! Sausage and gravy seemed to be a popular item and was tasty. We got one of their specials...a breakfast crossaint. The bloody Mary in a mason jar made me feel like I was in the south!

This place was Awesome!! So cute and lots of dog! If you have one bring it! I had the eggs Benedict and they didn't disappoint, I also had the mimosas which I would recommend ! YUM! The decor and staff were friendly and I really enjoyed my time, there was a little bit of a wait and the parking is not the greatest but its all worth it!

This might be my favorite place in all of Charleston area!!! For some strange reason we ended up going at the busiest time and still fell in love with the place. The atmosphere and staff was awesome. The food was incredible! I LOVE huevos rancheros and the only reason I was disappointed was because my husbands special was even better than this spectacular dish. He got eggs benedict over 1 crab cake and 1 shrimp cake - AMAXING. Light on the breading, heavy on the crab and shrimp. I can't wait to go back!

Lost Dog Cafe is my favorite place to stop when I go to Folly. There is usually a short wait, but well worth it. The iced mocha is always nice and strong and the food is always delicious. The shirts they sell are super cute and comfy too.

I'm so glad that we discovered this place on the first day of our stay. There was a mistake with our hotel booking and we went there while things were getting sorted out, in an angry mood. By the time we left, it was hard to be angry. We had brunch there all four days of our stay, ordering different things each time. The food was amazing, the drinks were delicious, the waitstaff sweet and very accommodating, and best of all, our dog could eat with us. Now I can't say enough about the dog-friendliness of this place. They don't just allow dogs, they embrace them. There are water bowls everywhere, the waitstaff know how to interact properly, and no one looks at you funny when your dog dares bark at the bird that swoops down to steal your food. We'll be back to Folly Beach and we'll be eating here.

This is my first Yelp review...I just couldn't pass this one up. Every once in a while you experience food that just cannot be compared, and this was one of those times. Me and the wife had heard good things about lost dog cafe. The Bloody Mary (served in mason jar) was spot on for a morning pick me up. I ordered the folly eggs Benedict and it was by far the best I've ever had. The wife ordered the French toast with gravy biscuit on the side. I was equally impressed by the large French toast. A table beside us ordered a breakfast burrito, and it was massive. Sadly, I did not have room to give it a go. I guess there is always next time.

  • Emily G.

If there are huevos rancheros on the menu, it's really hard for me to pass them up. I wish I did this time. I should have known better when I saw that it had non-traditional toppings on it. My husband's mahi mango spinach salad was great! The mahi was seasoned lightly and cooked perfectly with a crisp crust and flaky inside. Bloody Marys were solid. Would we have another? Yes. Would we go out of our way to have it? No. Atmosphere was quirky and welcoming. Would go back but only to try something else.

We went to the Lost Dog based on reviews. We had a wonderful experience. We went for breakfast about 9 am. We were seated right away. I ordered the pancakes with strawberries and bananas and fresh maple syrup. The portion was huge (2 large fluffy pancakes). The taste was light and fresh, cooked well. I had a side of sausage. The patties were thin and very big. They tasted great. My husband had the eggs Benedict with shrimp cake and crab cakes. When do you ever get both! He said it was great, prepared well and a perfect breakfast portion. The service was great, attentive servers and the decor was interesting especially if you like dogs of any shape or size! I bought a t-shirt! I would recommend!

We came here on our way out of Folly Beach. I'm so glad we did. The food is delicious. The bicsuits and gravy will melt in your mouth. I love the atmosphere and the gardens, being able to sit inside, outside on a porch area or in the garden area. My husband got a special, unfortunately I can't remember the name but would hightly recommend it. A jalapeno spinach breakfast wrap of sorts. Nice and spicy. We were told the wait would be about 25 minutes, and it was. The place was absolutely packed. I wish I lived here, I'd visit all the time. I'm anxious to try other things!

This could quite possibly be my favorite breakfast joint. I've never had a bad thing here. My top picks are the blueberry pancakes and the biscuits and gravy. My friend's favorite is shrimp and grits. The best part of the lost dog is....dogs are more than welcome! If you have a pooch definitely bring it with:)

Love this place!! Went on a Saturday morning with the family of four. Great out door seating to have the kids at since they can watch all the dogs people bring by and all the people. I had a breakfast burrito which was great and a bloody mary which was just as good. Huge muffins that both the kids loved. Lots of specialty liquor drinks that looked good. To bad they're open limited hours, there is a crowd their it seems from opening to closing time. Longer hours and easier parking would make it 5 out of 5.

"Dog lover" breakfast spot off the beaten path. Framed pictures of dogs everywhere; just staring, hoping for a bite or two. A friendly staff, with the typical offerings to start your day. Nothing out of the usual, other than the ambience of four-legged friends waiting to be identified by a customer.

Best breakfast spot in folly beach. The huevos rancheros is a must have. Solid location and great service. Really relaxed environment and you can get three dollar mimosas on Monday.

International Eggs Benedict exceeded my expectations! The fried green tomatoes were the make it or break it factor, and they were delicious. Even my picky eater husband enjoyed his "Loyal Companion" meal: scrambled eggs, bacon, toast with a side of diced potatoes. Cool eclectic little place that is a locals' favorite.

  • Zac N.

The lost dog cafe is a nice place to go if you have a dog, and don't care about paying a lot of money for a little bit of money. We brought our dog, were seated outside within 10min, and everyone was very friendly. I ordered OJ and she ordered lemonade. I was expecting some fresh OJ, but it came out of a carton. I had to open the carton myself. Once we got our drinks, we took a look at the menu. I ordered the Fruit French Toast, and she ordered pancakes with strawberries. The food was good, just not a lot of it. My french toast came with two skinny pieces of toast. The service took awhile, but i think that was because they were understaffed.

Had breakfast here on a recent road trip to SC. Heard all about the local scene in Folly Beach, including the little bars and restaurants in the area. I love any place that has a dog theme and didn't mind waiting for a table for 2. We sat outside on the side of the restaurant, where there were several tables alongside a garden type area. I had the banana bread french toast with strawberries which was a daily special and it was delish...had some whipped cream in addition to powdered sugar and syrup. Coffee was decent and waitstaff was adequate. I love the interior decorations....walls are covered with pics of customers and their dogs!!

So delicious! Invented my meal from random items on the menu: fried green tomatoes, breakfast potatoes, pork green chili, eggs over easy, bacon, yummo. Friend loved her cinnamon roll and the chicken sandwich. will be back tomorrow for shrimp and grits!

We had heard about this place from my sister. She told us not to miss it when we were in Folly. I really wish we had found it right away, we stopped for a late breakfast on our way out of town. It's a bit off the main drag so easy to miss. From the crowd of waiting people, I knew that this was the spot to me. We were there on a Saturday morning around 10:30, obviously a popular time in a resort town. We waited nearly an hour. There were coffee and cocktail available to keep you happy while you waited. Lots of dogs on the patio and in the waiting area. I had the "The lost dog's very own huevos rancheros" and my husband had the breakfast burrito. Both were amazing. Kids had pancakes. We really enjoyed their cheesy grits as well. I had no complaints about my meal. Service was good. The place is packed with people and has a nice, laid-back vibe. The walls are covered with pictures of dogs.

Lost Dog is one my all time favorite breakfast and lunch places. The atmosphere is quaint and very friendly. You can eat outside or in. Most of the time there is a wait but they get you seated quickly. One of my favorites is their cheese grits and all the muffins are delicious with the best coffee in town. I have never had anything bad to eat there. If you take a framed picture of your dog, they will hang it on the wall as long as there is space. A yummy fun place.

We had two meals here while vacationing at FB. First breakfast: We came on a weekday & there was no wait. We sat on the front porch which was nice & the service was fast & friendly. My hubby had the French toast, side of southern biscuits & gravy.... He said both were very good. I had the breakfast burrito & a side of cheese grits & both were good as well but certainly not the best breakfast ever. Maybe just the best in this area? Lunch: Once again we came on a weekday & were seated right away with fast & friendly service. My hubby had the Salmon BLT & definitely enjoyed it while I enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich. I really appreciated the chicken salad was mostly chicken & not overdone with mayo like some other restaurants. We were both disappointed slightly that the chips served with sandwiches are ruffle chips & not some type of homemade chip. All in all the restaurant was very good but I didn't give it 5 stars bc it wasn't anything I would crave like crazy to have again. I would recommend it to others & return again if visiting.

When I see a cafe with over 100 reviews, the vast majority of which determine that the experience was worthy of a 4/5-star rating, it's hard to be skeptical. But alas, I still managed to doubt this little "home town" cafe. I was wrong -- very, very wrong. The food was excellent, the drinks were rich and flavorful, and the ambiance was casual and friendly! Was there a wait? Of course there was, but I now know it to be consistent with the expectations set by these reviews. Additionally, drinks are served while you wait and there is ample outdoor waiting space for families and friends to socialize. I highly recommend this place, even for the overnight and weekend visitors. You won't be disappointed! Cheers to my first 5-star rating!

Their specials are regularly on point and their biscuits and gravy are delicious. Get there early or after the lunch rush because everyone knows this is the spot on Folly for brunch. This most recent visit, I had the Fish Thang special - a pepper crusted salmon with dill sauce over fresh veggies and seasoned potatoes. Scrumptious and filling without being too heavy!

The only place I was told was open early in #FOLLYBEACH. I only had coffee and the International Benedict which comes with a delicious Fried Green Tomato. Also, just so you know there are 2 of them and they are huge. That comes with fruit slices. The service was super friendly, even at 6:3 am, the servers were smiling and joking with one another. The place is also super cozy and has a small front patio. I only gave 4 stars because the benedict sauce was not warm enough, plus I was not able to taste other items and they only have 1 bathroom for all the masses.

Good food at decent prices. I've been multiple times for breakfast / brunch and have enjoyed each meal. Be prepared to wait though. There is not a lot of available parking and you will usually wait for a table. Overall a very worthwhile place to eat if you are spending time on Folly Beach.

This is one of our favorite spots to come when we visit the area. While their specials are always delicious, I can't stop myself from ordering the juevos rancheros; in fact, I may or may not dream about them sometimes. We have been known to eat here twice per trip. It is worth the wait as well as the drive out to Folly if you are staying downtown. The waitstaff is attentive and friendly and my kids love seeing the dogs on the walls.

BEST BISCUITS AND GRAVY I'VE EVER EATEN EVER. Seriously. Get them. Also good: Chicken quesadilla, meatloaf sandwich, eggs benedict, southern-style BLT, cheese grits, chicken salad sandwich, bacon, chocolate milk. Basically everything here is delicious. I would recommend going weekday or Saturday mornings. If you come on a Sunday morning, be prepared for at least an hour's wait.

Superb local place, more than just a sandwich shop. Make a stop here any time you're at Folly Beach. I loved the Turkey Croissant sandwich, and the French toast with fresh peaches was perfectly prepared. My wife's iced mocha very good, as well. The meat quiche is solid, as is the Southern BLT. Overall, never had anything bad here!

Best place we ate in Folly Beach. Food was fresh and very good if not up to Charleston standards. Fish was cooked perfectly and seasoning was nice if not spectacular. What distinguishes this place from many in Folly is the availability of fresh, healthy options on their menu. Some places only serve sandwiches or tacos, but Lost Dog has a nice selection of salads on their menu as well. The atmosphere was nice as well, befitting the laid back style of the community.

I am so glad that my boyfriend and I discovered this gem. I had the breakfast burrito with the pork green chile sauce and it was fabulous- the mimosa in mason jar, along with the quaint feel of the outdoor seating was the perfect touch. The coffee was great (per my boyfriend) and the service was efficient and friendly. Only downside is that there was a 40 minute wait... But it was worth it!

Eaten here the last two days. Between my wife, son, and I we've had 5 different dishes and they've all been amazing. Attentive service despite a packed house. There's a reason you see people lined up for a table. Worth the wait!

This place is a GEM! You have to try the Blackened Salmon & Fried Green Tomato Wrap. It is seriously the best sandwich I have ever tasted. You can't go wrong with the breakfast quiches or the cheese grits. I have never had anything here that wasn't worth bragging about for a week!

Nice little place. Got quick service and friendly staff and the food was really good, the bacon burger I ordered was very good and was obvious that it wasn't some cheap frozen burger I loved it. The atmosphere of the place is really great too, pictures of dogs everywhere and overall just a very nice ambience I loved it. Definitely would recommend this place.

This was a very, very tasty surprise. We got here at 1:55 on Sunday, they close at 2:00 but the staff was very welcoming and invited us to come on in no problem! The food was so so good. Everything from wraps and egg sandwiches to salads and seafood. I had the daily special, the " Fish thing". It was awesome with nice pieces of snapper, red potatoes and mushrooms. Mimosas, Pimosas and nice beer selection as well. Great staff with great service.

I have been going to Lost Dog since 2008. The last few times I've gone.. I've noticed they have gotten busier, and the service has SUFFERED. The girl working the bar (wish I knew her name) but the one that's super skinny and has a Resting B*tch face... She was rude to us the whole time... Listened in on others and she was rude to everyone else. Just really snappy and disappointing. She never checked on us once, and someone else cleared our plates and she came over and said "all done?" And handed the check. We never even got something that we ordered and we told her, she snatched the check to remove it. NEVER did she apologize, or offer to bring it out! We would've still paid for it, didn't want anything free, just wanted what we ordered. I still tipped her over 15% but she deserved to pay us for the MISERABLE time. All I have to say to this girl.. You should probably find another job.. And in a cubicle doing data entry so you never have to face people! Even though this food is amazing.. I'll probably not go back. Thanks for ruining my breakfast!!

Local eatery with a local flair. Seemed like the place to be ... Only place we ever waited to get into on or near Folly Island. Chicken salad sandwich was incredible. My husband had the turkey bacon swiss croissant. Both meals were great, reasonably priced and portions too large to finish. Highly recommend, and worth the wait.

VERY GOOD! I was looking for a breakfast stop near Folly Beach, Saw this rated high on Yelp and went for it. The Biscuits and gravey are unbeatable! Also had a ham,egg and cheese Bagel sandwich that was very good. My fiance got a BLT with a friend green tomato that she enjoyed. Friendly waitstaff and a neat place, will be back again!

Always amazing. Crazy busy best to go after yhe morning rush. I always get the banana nut bread french toast so delicious. Hubby got the eggs benedict he said it was a dream come true. Only issue is one tiny bathroom...they need to upgrade that. We love eating here when ee visit folly beach.

I don't five 5 stars very often, and particularly not for dining establishments that are more casual. Hubby, puppy and I were in Folly Beach recently for a fun, cold, beach getaway, and we really enjoyed Lost Dog Cafe. We had three mornings in town, and on day two we visited here for breakfast and despite some glowing yelp reviews of the breakfast place one street closer to our hotel, we returned here for day three. The special pancakes ($9.95 on day one, $8.25 on day two - how odd what you notice when you save your receipts for your yelp review) were like banana bread with glazed walnuts inside, topped with strawberries and fresh whipped cream. Hubby had them day one, I had them day two - delicious. Really delicious. Like the best pancakes either of us have ever eaten delicious. We added a side of sausage ($2.75) because these are sweet, and you'll need the yin for that much yang. Day one I had the Folley Breakfast Burrito. There's a Mexican place in my hometown that advertises burritos as big as your head, and this breakfast burrito could hold up to any of their renditions. Loaded up with eggs, cheese, black beans, bacon, sour cream, pico, you get the picture. And $8.00 to boot - awesome. Day 2 hubby chose a breakfast bagel sandwich ($5.45) that was also very good. They offer "fancy coffees" like a chai latte ($4.05) or a mocha cinnamon latte ($4.95) or regular coffee is $1.75. Regardless of what you choose, it's a bargain and in case I didn't mention earlier - dog friendly. Diners with pups eat on either the front or side porch -and there were a lot of canine lovers like us in the house. It was chilly, but still nice, and they were crowded enough non-dog owners were eating out there as well. If you're in the area, definitely stop in. Your tail will be wagging all day long!

We ate at this place on our way to Folly Beach. It's a little off the beaten path and the GPS didn't quite know where it was but it's not hard to find. The inside is small but cute with framed dog pictures all around. It seems like most of the staff and servers are teenagers and college students. Our service wasn't great but ok. I had been craving a Chicken Caesar wrap for days and they had it on the menu, so we stopped in. Unfortunately, the wrap came with what seemed to be deli cut style chicken but I was expecting grilled chicken breast. Also, the dressing did not taste like a traditional Caesar dressing but rather like a vinaigrette. All in all- it was a good wrap but not what I expected. I also had the summer salad as a side; it was fresh but was a bit too sweet for my taste. Husband ordered a burger with the extra green chile topping and loved it! He owns a start-up better-burger franchise and is always looking for a great burger and new ideas and the burger at Lost Dog satisfied both! Would go back but I would order something different.

I dream of this place. I love the way it looks, I love the food, the staff, just ALL of it! The best food on Folly beach I think! The drinks come in mason jars ( I love that). The breakfast burritos are HUGE, Biscuits & Gravy is good, but shrimp & grits are perfection! I DARE you to leave here hungry! My husband loves their coffee. I love sitting on the patio there . It's just an all around good place!

Love the Lost Dog. There was something for everyone on thee I from the Awesome Cinnamon Bun for the kids to the Huevos Rancheros for the adults. The coffee was superb and the lox on an everything bagel was fresh and local. The best lox and bagel outside of the Jewish deli down the street back home. And breakfast all day? I'm in. Even bought a coffee mug.

The best thing about lost dog cafe is the vibe. Its so relaxed and such an easy going atmosphere that its hard not to enjoy yourself. We ate here last Sunday for brunch after a morning surf session and Lost Dog really hit the spot. We had the Folly Benedict and the mahi wrap with a side of collards and cheese grits. Everything was very good and we left full and satisfied. Wish I could give it 5 stars, but the flavor combinations were all just "good" and nothing was added that took the flavors to the next level. Granted that's not easy to do with breakfast food, regardless, Lost Dog is a solid option.

This is the best breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant on folly beach! The food is incredible and comes to the table fast! The staff is friendly and polite! The host Vicki was friendly and sat us right away! My server was Alyssa and she was the best server Ive ever had! I was unsure of what to get and she patiently offered suggestions! She never let my drink get empty and she cleared our empty plates right away! She's very attractive and funny! Ask to sit in her section!!

If you read any of this review, read this : The Pancake were Fantastic! I honestly don't remember if it was Pumpking or Sweet Potato or what... But I do remember thinking holy smokes this is awesome. They were topped with Pecans, syrup, powdered sugar. Admittingly, I went for quiche. I was in a healthy mood. All that went out the window when I saw this on the menu. Everything I have ever had here has always been good. We did bring our dogs in the past and yes, they are dog friendly! Be ready for a slight wait. It's a popular place so don't get mad. Be happy knowing that you are at Folly Beach and I'm sitting in an office remember how great it was. Needless to say, I wish I was there and having those pancakes today!

    (4)
  • Liza W.

It was pleasant. Not bad...the quiche was ok, fruit was standard, and the coffee was great. The cheese grits however were your standard grits with shredded cheese sprinkled on top. The atmosphere and service were much better than the food.

Shrimp n' Grits with a side of biscuit for breakfast is to die for!!! Also had the Huevos Rancheros with eggs over-easy =D Can't say these are the healthiest breakfast food choices but I only live once and will probably only visit Charleston once during this lifetime. Lost Dog can work on improving their coffee and Bloody Mary's though...not the best tasting brew and definitely could use more vodka in the Bloody Mary.

Be prepared to wait. Every time I've been, I have waited 40+ minutes for a table, but there is a reason I keep going back. It is the perfect place for day drinkers, or anyone who was partying all night at Folly Beach Shrimp Company. You can go up to the counter and get delicious recovery drinks while you wait. The Bloody Marys and Mimosas are pretty damn good. I was initially disappointed the first time I went, because my food didn't come out until 5 minutes after everyone else received their plates, but the quality of the dish made me forget the wait instantly. The Eggs Benedict is delicious, but the Folly Benedict is to die for: Eggs Benedict with fried green tomatoes and a shrimp cake and crab case instead of ham. Culinary orgasm. My brother had the shrimp and grits and it was pretty awesome too. Everyone was happy with their meal, even though it is a bit pricey for some of the dishes. I still recommend it to anyone who asks and I always bring my friends that are visiting for a weekend at the beach.

  • Diana S.

I agree with some other reviewers, it definitely wasn't the best thing I've ever had in my life, but it wasn't bad at all. Went with a fairly large group but didn't end up with a wide variety. 3 of the 5 of us ordered juevos rancheros, which they really enjoyed and they cleaned their plates. No issues there! Another ordered a standard bacon/egg breakfast, and I ordered the fried green tomato BLT. If you like pimento cheese, go for that BLT, however, if you don't I wouldn't jump on it immediately. It wasn't bad by any means, but pimento cheese is a dominant factor in ordering it, and I would have preferred a little less cheese with my sandwich. Otherwise, the atmosphere was fun and really represented Folly. Some stray kitties were outside and friendlier than ever. I'd definitely go back again when I'm in town, as the food was good and everyone was friendly. My only highlight is I wish our waitress would have pointed out the menu for specials to us, it went unnoticed due to the tight squeeze at the table.

Such a cute little spot on Folly Beach. I ended up at Lost Dog after many suggestions and reading multiple awesome Yelp reviews. I sat outside on a beautiful day and enjoyed the side patio underneath many trees. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. One of the tables on the patio even brought two of their doggie friends with them, which I loved that that's an option here. The food was excellent. I gobbled up my strawberry french toast and bacon very quickly. The drinks that we ordered (non-alcoholic and alcoholic drink) came in mason jars, which I thought were a nice touch. I'd love to go back more and more to experience the rest of the menu. Guess I'll have to wait until my next trip to Folly! :)

I avoided the wait by coming solo and making friends at the bar. But this only works when the friends you are visiting are at work. I loved everything about this place. The inside was small and very full but in a way that made everyone friends. The food is fast, delicious and easily customizable. The wait staff and bar staff are extremely friendly and seem happy to be at work--which I can't say many places exude that feeling on a Sunday morning. I will definitely be coming back here next time I am hanging around Folly Beach!

Amazing breakfast/brunch spot in a small beach town. I came here twice during my 3 day trip to Charleston because once just wasn't enough, and I knew that going anywhere else would have just disappointed me. I had the special roast beef french dip. This was heavenly. Best french dip i have ever eaten. It comes on a croissant (genius!!) and the meat was succulent, the au jus, perfect. I also had biscuits and gravy on the side - this was life changing. It was savory, yet sweet. My southern friend at the table said that this was the best biscuits and gravy she ever had (better than her grandmother's!). On the second day I had the shrimp and grits. Similar to the biscuit and gravy it was savory yet sweet. I love that combination of those flavor profiles. Down side is that there is often a long wait - but that's just a sign of how good it is...and how everyone in town knows it!

Forget best brunch place in Charleston, this is one of the best brunch places I have been to PERIOD!!! Anywhere! The wait can be long, especially on weekends, but boy oh boy is it worth it! SUPER affordable as well. Delicious mimosas and Bloody Marys (they're not super spicy but if you like them spicy like I do, I just added some sriacha to it and it tasted amazingggg). BEST BISCUITS AND GRAVY EVER!!!!!!! They are perfect. PERFECT. I had their French dip on a croissant, which was on special, and that may have been one of the most delicious things I have ever had in my life. I devoured it in about 3.42 seconds flat. Amazing. Chicken salad is good, shrimp 'n' grits is great (very buttery and greasy -- in a delicious way), home fries are ridiculous. And best of all - this place is SO CHEAP for such good food!!!!! I wish I lived in Charleston. I want to come here every day.

Fun breakfast/lunch type place tucked away in Folly Beach. I had the quiche and it was the bomb. Hubby had quesadilla. Tea was served in mason jars. Dogs are allowed on porch. We ate outside on porch, it was quite fun. Even saw a woman with a bunny on a leash. Would def return. Great service too.

If you're visiting James Island or Folly Beach, you have to visit Lost Dog Cafe for breakfast. The shrimp and grits may be the best I've ever had. The Folly Benedict and Corned Beef Hash, both specials of the day, were amazing. Even their bagel-egg-cheese-bacon sandwich was yummy! Waitstaff was super nice. If you plan to come on the weekend, then arrive early. Otherwise, you've got at least a 25-minute wait. But it's so worth it.

We come to Charleston every year and already have a number of favorite spots to grub. This was recommended to us by a family member and we don't think there is a better breakfast place around for charm, great service, delicious food and value. We waited about 20 mins for a table at peak brunch time, which was way better than the hour for Toast downtown. The server still apologized excessively for the wait. Based on the reviews, we ordered the biscuits and gravy and shrimp and grits. Both dishes were amazing and the best shrimp and grits we have ever had- and we are from the South so we have eaten plenty of each. The flavors and quality can't be beat. Topped of the meal with an iced chai tea and even though we didn't bring our 4 legged friend, we got a kick out of the doggie vibe and pictures! I know another breakfast here is in our future and will recommend to anyone looking for a nice, simple meal.

I am a total dog lover, so I was absolutely delighted by this place and the fact that they allow diners to bring their furry friends to this place. We arrived around 10ish on a Saturday morning and it was packed. We waited about 25 minutes for a table for four. By that time, we had already perused the menu and decided what to get. While the lunch menu sounded very promising, I think we were all in the mood for breakfast/brunch items: French toast with strawberries Biscuits and gravy Blueberry pancakes with strawberries (special of the day) Eggs benedict with fried green tomatoes Home fries (side) My french toast was perfect. I guess I didn't realize it, but I like my toast to be more eggy because it makes it more moist. Lost Dog's version is very eggy. It came with fresh sliced strawberries. Even though the plate of toast looked very formidable, I polished off the entire thing and then some. I sampled some of the BF's biscuits and gravy -- very good. He commented that it was some of the best biscuits and gravy he's ever had. I also tried some of their famous home fries. They're a bit different because they are cooked with red onion slivers. I like that touch, but I thought the fries were too soggy for my taste. I didn't try the pancakes or eggs benedict (not a fan of Hollandaise sauce) but the pancakes looked very tasty and were absolutely enormous -- they covered the entire plate. Between our two hosts, they couldn't even finish half the stack. Drinks are served in mason jars, which I thought was a cute touch. The cafe has a very homey feel to it, with portraits of dogs all over the walls. Adorable place!

Service was amazing. Atmosphere is incredible. Food was great. We sat outside on their beautiful porch surrounded by nature drinking out of mason jars & watching the bird's steal sugar packets off the tables. It felt like I was dining at a friend's Charleston country home. My little girl did not like her sandwich so they immediately had the chef wip her up something that was not even on the menu so that she would be satisfied. The service was good but a little bit slow. I look forward to trying more of their food & eating inside as well. They are also obviously DOG FRIENDLY & treated my dog just as if she were a human. Love it!

Shrimp and grits are some of the best I've had, and yes, I am a true Charlestonian, so you can take my word for it. Prices are a little on the higher side for Folly, so you wouldn't be able to go everyday. Coffee is real good too.

Came for breakfast to meet a friend before heading to beach. Disclaimer: I am not one to wait long times to dine. Especially for breakfast. But I happened to get there early before my friend and walked up the street to buy some flip flops after I put my name on list. Otherwise, no thanks. Was nice on the porch but food was underwhelming. Weak coffee and bagel with lox was about train station kiosk quality. Fine if you're on the beach and hungry and don't want to cook but I'm constantly amazed by people's willingness to wait for basic breakfast food.

This place has great breakfast. My dad had the biscuits and gravy and I had an egg and cheese croissant. Both were good. I loved that they'll modify the menu per requests. I added sundried tomato cream cheese and a fried green tomato to my sandwich and it was great. They really know how to cook a nice soft egg. I also like their yeasty cinnamon rolls and garlicky home fries.

This place is one booming business! Crazy busy and tons of workers all running around. We were able to grab two seats at the bar to beat the wait. Staff was friendly, but to the point. My sister and I ordered she crab soup first. The temperature could have been a little hotter, but the soup was very rich and delicious. Super filling. Had we realized this we both probably would have split something else or just been satisfied enough. After the soup came the "bob barker" wrap with the seasonal summer salad (cucumber, tomatoes, watermelon, onion, etc.). The wrap was great! A nice mixed of sweet with the mango salsa and spicy black bean burger. The summer salad was also a nice light side, especially after the rich, thick she crab soup. Overall, the food was impressive and the service was pretty good. Bathrooms were kind of gross, but I sort of expected it with how busy of a place this is. If I came back to Folly again, I will definitely stop hear to try more of their dishes. Lots to choose from and it all looked great!

I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of the bbq breakfast burrito and I never eat burritos because I'm not a fan of salsa and sour cream with my eggs so the bbq hollandaise was a great substitute. It was literally the best thing I have eaten for breakfast! The biscuits and gravy were spot on and my wife loved her crab cake and shrimp cake eggs benedict. The staff were just as good as the food and were always smiling which is a great sign of good management and a good working environment, coming from a service industry pro. We were referred to the joint by a buddy who told us they served the best eggs benedict he has ever had, so we're not the only one's who give it 5 stars.

Great place to bring company, though it's very popular. There is often a wait. Food is good. I enjoyed the vegetable quiche, fruit and cheese grits this time around with a mimosa, of course.

Best breakfast in Charleston period.. The shrimp and grits are simple amazing with coffee that's always hot and tasty. It's great during the week coming off the beach after getting some waves!!

Solid 4. Food was great, grits were some of the best I have ever had. Got a kids pancake for my daughter, it was huge and the kitchen staff even made a face on it with fruit. Lemonade was good, tasted home made. My husband got a mocha, also pretty tasty! Great atmosphere. Only 4 stars because it is a bit pricy, 40 bucks for my husband, daughter and myself.

Great food and mimosa at the right price. Came in wasn't very busy took awhile to get water and drinks so service wasn't speedy. But then people in a beach town probably really aren't in a hurry. Had the huevos rancheros and pancakes. Great food definantly ck it out.

excellent food but get there early as it fills up! has the best she crab soup I've been able to find in charleston. The crab benedict is also awesome. Only open for breakfast and lunch or we would be going for dinner there as well.

So why does a place like the Lost Dog Cafe get only ONE STAR? Because you cannot give it MINUS FIFTY STARS. It was that bad. I had, easily, one of the worst breakfasts I have ever had just a few minutes ago. Please let me puke it up. Please. In fairness, great staff, great atmosphere --- food was just awful. Scrambled eggs that were not scrambled. Brown on the bottom with a single glob of glutinous eggs, not fluffy and scrambled like say --- Huddle House. This is just stupid. A glutinous mass of unscrambled eggs. The chef should be put to sleep. Single little mean spirited piece of sausage that was almost as good as a McDonald's sausage biscuit. Almost but not really. Out of the kind of bagel I ordered but got an under toasted plain bagel. Ugh. Cream cheese when they remembered it. And here is the killer --- cold grits. Cold the first time. Cold the second time. When a kitchen cannot operate a freakin' microwave, well, then, my friend, you have to give them the MINUS FIFTY STARS. I will be back again some time the end of this century. This place is truly horrendous. Sorry to all those who sing its praises but I can only hope that this was a bad experience and one of a kind. Going to go stick a finger down my throat and hope for the best.

The Lost Dog is my favorite breakfast place when on vacation in Folly Beach. They have wonderful breakfast sandwiches and their breakfast burrito is worth the trip to South Carolina alone. There is a wait some times but it is worth it. While I do not have a dog I love that it is dog friendly and that they have treats for the dogs readily available.

Amazing shrimp and grits. Huge plate full and very tasty with creamy, buttery grits(best I've ever tasted), bacon, and chopped spring onions along with many shrimps. Fabulous. Everything on menu looked great. Casual, friendly atmosphere.

The absolute best biscuits and gravy I've ever had anywhere. So good I had them three days in a row! B&G and dog-friendly... Need I say more? Very nice atmosphere and the most friendly servers you'd ever hope to find. Definitely give it a try....you'll love it. And have the Monday Mason-Jar Mimosas....

What an awesome, little hole-in-the-wall place. Certainly worth the wait to get seated. I tried several things, but will discuss the yummiest ones. Shrimp and grits dish was very delish. The fruit parfait was the first and only fruit parfait that I liked in my life. Wow now that I think is quite an awesome thing - to make someone like what they don't like :).

Our family is making a tradition out of visiting Folly Beach around New Year's. Part of that tradition involves at least one visit to Lost Dog Café. We enjoy the character-rich, authentic surroundings, including cozy indoor and--in warmer times--outdoor seating. I've enjoyed the signature breakfast burrito and Thai wrap. My wife has raved about the collard greens. As the name suggests, the place is very dog-friendly, with an outside patio that features a water bowl at every table.

Can't say enough good things about this place. Everytime I get down to Charleston I bring my friends here. Food - Every meal I've ever had here is EXCELLENT. The she-crab soup is a fantastic starter. Enjoy some bloody's or mosa's while you wait, pet some friendly dogs! Serivce - Always excellent, helpful, and super friendly. Price - Very reasonable and a wide range if you're trying to stick to a budget Highly recommend, be prepared for a wait though, as it's not a secret how good the food is here...

Excellent food, good service. The shrimp and grits were excellent, and the pancakes were the best I've ever had. Atmosphere was laid back and the canine theme was endearing to any dog lover, but not tacky for those who don't love or four footed friends. I would eat again, and would recommend.

An amazing restaurant! Great food, people, and atmosphere. The place is a cozy spot in Folly Beach down a side road. A little on the smaller end of a restaurant, but it is worth the wait. When you first walk in the smell of syrup and coffee hit your senses with a flash. The smell ignores the fact of waiting to be seated to eat. Much worth the wait. the decor is photos of different breeds of dogs with a beachy feel to it. I ordered a chicken caesar wrap with fruit and a vanilla latte. The latte was out of this world the best latte that I have ever drank. I wish I purchased a large because I drank it way to fast.. The food was delicious and tasted fresh. The others at my table ordered the breakfast burrito and biscuits with gravy. Thank god i have nice friends because we all sampled each others meals. The burrito was gigantic and the flavors were bold. The biscuits with gravy tasted homemade and not out of the can. My biggest downfall about the restaurant is the size of the place and the fact there isn't one in Charlotte, Nc. A place I highly recommend on Folly Beach for breakfast or lunch!

This place may be great for Folly Beach, but overall, it is nothing special. Being a Northerner, I was looking forward to good old down south biscuits and gravy. I've had better in Ohio for less money. I also had the breakfast ham. While it was good, it was very thin. The eggs were fine, but a bit bland. I ordered their "loyal companion" breakfast and eggs only came as scrambled, so I suspect an egg product may have been used, as opposed to fresh eggs. I would certainly not discourage anyone from eating here, but I can easily think of places where every item is done better.

Does this place have personality? ...is dog man's best friend?! I am definitely a dog person so I loved going here. Really sweet pictures of all dog breeds cover the walls. Dog bowls and outdoor seating make it perfect to bring your little pal with you. The food varieties are endless and everything I saw looked super fresh. If I lived closer this would absolutely be a place id frequent. Our service was a little spotty. They told us it would be about a 25min wait... in reality it was closer to 45. Our server was kind of strange- when she brought someone at our table the wrong drink she insisted he asked for the type she brought. I don't understand why should would try to argue with the customer, we weren't making a big deal about it, it happens. Nice variety of flavored mimosas - peach, orange, and pomegranate. The peach was just V8Splash though, I think fresh juice would make it so much better. I had a bloody mary and a pomegranate mimosa, both were about average. The she-crab soup was fantabulous ! I highly recommend it. Loved the fact that it was served with bagel chips. For my entree I went with the special; Crab Cake Benedict with Bearnaise ...it came with asparagus and a side of fruit but hey it was vacation so I subbed it for home-fries (said they were fried with onion and garlic). I didn't taste any onion/garlic in the fries so I wish I just stuck with the fruit. The portion was huge, I could have easily split the dish. The crab-cake was heavy on filling and the Bearnaise was too acidic. Overall it was good- but it wasn't the best I have ever had. The place was so cool though so 3.5-4 stars. I'll be back to try something else.

A gr.eat place for breakfast. They allow dogs on the patio. It made us miss our two dogs back home in KS. Food was fresh and hot. Huevo rancheros were some of the best I've had. Will definitely go back

We came by for Sunday brunch and mitigated the 45 minute wait with some Chai Tea. The hot version was too diluted with milk, but the iced version better retained the flavor and helped beat the summer heat. Everything we tried was great, but beware that many of the breakfast foods are heavy (albeit delicious) - if you're heading to a day on the beach consider a less filling option. I opted for the Fresh Fish Thing, which changes daily - mine was a Pecan and Panko Crusted Mahi Mahi which was crispy on the outside but moist on the inside and served on a bed of fresh greens and grilled vegetables (including some amazing mushrooms that had soaked up some tasty sauce). The balsamic vinaigrette was under the greens to avoid making the fish soggy, which I appreciated - there was a little too much though, so consider getting it on the side. Skip the Southern Biscuit which was not crispy enough on the outside for me. The side patio is nice, but has limited breeze and no effective fans in the heat. Opt for the front patio or inside for a cooler meal.

Excellent! We were staying in Folly Beach and in our search to find a decent breakfast we stumbled upon Lost Dog Café via Yelp, and after reading reviews had to check it out. I have nothing bad to say about this little spot! Adorable location, a little small inside but still accommodating and was within walking distance from our hotel. The second we sat down I started drooling over the site of my neighbor to the rights breakfast, tracked it down on the menu and it was unbelievable. My husband's meal was equally as delicious and looking around I can't imagine anything on the menu would receive anything other than 5 stars. Oh and P.S. - if you are traveling with your pup, they are pet friendly! If you are in the area I recommend making time for breakfast at The Lost Dog Café, I promise you won't be sorry!

Perfect choice for a laid back lunch spot! I went to Lost Dog Cafe with a large group of friends. We sat outside -- there was shade and a few floor fans so it was not too hot. We all ordered something different and everyone was very pleased with their choice. I was nervous about this being a mediocre tourist trap, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't. I would definitely dine here again and recommend it to others.

Went in on a swamped morning. Good grub and the waitress's threw me and my friend in the corner with other " hungover" people and far from little kids which was great. The hash is not NY style it's more like an omelet without the eggs, but wasn't bad.

The rating of this restaurant definitely sets the bar high but I felt it lived up to it. We went twice while we were in town and I had the international eggs benedict the first day and lox and bagel the second day. I tried my husbands biscuits and gravy and was very impressed! The wait time the first day was a long on a weekend at a popular time but we were seated right away when we went early during the week. I would definitely recommend this place!

A friend recommended this place and it was great! We were staying in historic Charleston but made short the drive to check it out. Parking is limited and be prepared for a wait but it was worth it. The restaurant is dog-friendly which I loved and was decked out in dog photos, decor, etc. I ordered a bloody mary and the breakfast burrito with ham. It was HUGE and delicious. The BF ordered shrimp and grits and thought they were good. The service was good - especially for how busy they were on a Saturday morning. I definitely recommend a visit if you are staying in Folly Beach or downtown Charleston.

I've eaten at the Lost Dog Cafe twice now. I had the opportunity to due to having running events hosted out on Folly. I'm so glad I took advantage! I love the atmosphere of the place, the pictures of the animals (mostly dogs of course) cover almost every inch of the inside and they are SO CUTE! The first time we sat inside which is very snug. I ordered the breakfast burrito (I'm a sucker for a breakfast burrito) along with a side of a biscuit with sausage gravy (another weakness). Both were excellent. I couldn't finish the burrito (no skimpy portions!) so I took half of it home and it reheated really well. The second time, just this past weekend, we got there a bit later (maybe around 10:30) and this time there was a bit of a wait. We were seated within 10 minutes and we sat outside this time. I loved that because there was this adorable squishy faced bulldog, so cute and super friendly! This time I ordered the shrimp and grits along with a blueberry muffin. My friend also ordered the shrimp and grits but got a cinnamon roll instead. Another case of unable to finish! Unlike last time I also had coffee but I wasn't even able to finish my shrimp and grits. Oh but I so wanted to. They were DELICIOUS. mmmm yum. I had to try a bite of my muffin which was super tasty as well. I of course devoured it later. My friend had my same 'unable to finish' predicament but her cinnamon roll was so delicious she was motivated to send me a text later that day to share that with me. You know it's good eating when you feel the need to share how good it is. Both times we've had excellent service and I'm looking forward to my next early morning at Folly so I can enjoy another Lost Dog experience. I would guess the best time to avoid a wait is before 10am? Totally worth it even if you have to wait a bit.

Cute brunch place to visit while at Folly Beach. Even better-- you can bring your dog! They serve drinks in mason glasses which add to the southern charm. It's a great local spot to try out if you're in Charleston

The food was good, but nothing amazing in my opinion. The problem was the time it took to get our food. On a Sunday afternoon, of course we expected to wait. We were only a table of 4. We ordered... and waited... Saw a table of 6 get seated, then a table of another 4 maybe 15-20 minutes after us. Both tables received their food at least 20-30 minutes before us. We had the same server too! Our server didn't even come back to update us about our food or apologize about the wait. The only saving grace is that we did get our bar drinks comped without us even asking. Still, at least an update or an apology would've been great during our hour long wait.

This place is AWESOME!! I had the sweet potato pancakes which was one of the specials of the day. They had candied walnuts inside and were topped with bananas and whipped cream. They were delicious, (not to mention as big as my head!!) I was worried they might be too savory when I was really craving breakfast food but they were just the right balance. This was my first time in Folly Beach but next time I return I will definitely be eating here again. Would definitely like to try out their lunch food!

Fantastic Breakfast/ Brunch/ Lunch spot. Worth the drive from IOP to Folly. If you enjoy places like Early Girl Eatery in Asheville, and Seabiscuit Cafe on IOP then you should come here. Atmosphere is casual, dog friendly, nice outdoor patio. I imagine the wait must be insane on weekends. Service could be a bit faster but I wouldn't want to hurry out of here anyway. Their specialty mimosas are awesome. They have great coffee drinks. The muffins sound wonderful and I could smell them from the table next to me! I love the Benedict's, the grits are a little tight but great flavor. Breakfast burrito was nice. Biscuits and Gravy are tasty but not the spicy kind so add hot sauce. Only wish they had fresh squeezed juices and smoothies. I was really happy with this place and I felt the prices were in check. Huge portions.

Loved it! Thought it was awesome. Such a cute little place with pictures of dogs all over the walls. Very endearing. Tried the french toast and a cuban sandwich and liked them both a lot. Also had the mimosas, which are served in large mason jars, and they were EXCELLENT. I hope to replicate them at home; much boozier than I am used to - delicious! I will probably be back to folly beach someday, and this will definitely be a stop I make.

So, so good and yummy. There is no need to go off Folly Beach for breakfast or lunch with this crowd-pleaser around. Lost Dog is exactly what the doctor ordered when you hanker after some greasy goodness. Breakfast is always good, the Latte is amazing, and the burgers can't be beat. Bring your dog if you have one, as you are not only "allowed" to bring man's best friend to the Lost Dog, you're positively encouraged to do so.

The Lost Dog Cafe was A-Ok. The granola pancakes were a five star and super delicious. We also tried the fried green tomato eggs Benedict. The sauce was a little off for my taste buds, plus the table next to me had the crab cake version which look amazingly different and better. My friend ordered the OJ and to my demise, it was tropicana in a bottle. The reason this offends; because they bragged about the few local items they did carry. Too much disconnect in quality and presentation; excellent and A-ok all at the same time.

We discovered Lost Dog on a recent trip to Folly with family. Hearing great reviews here and on the ground locally, we ventured out for Sunday brunch. It's just off the main drag at Folly, an eclectic little place, with casual seating indoors and outdoor porches too. There's also a nice shady courtyard where you can wait for a table, where we spent about 30 minutes before being seated for brunch. The theme is played up very well - with framed photos of dogs from staff and customers and fans bedecking the walls, literary quotations on boards, and even a fire hydrant in the bathroom- funny. The menu is great with plenty to choose from for breakfast and lunch - everyone at my table loved their food. We tried two soups- potato-leek and she-crab, both yummy but beware a cup is a big portion if you are also ordering an entree. I had vegetarian quiche with cheesy grits and fresh fruit - all delicious, and I would order again! My mom had a really nice little huevos rancheros, my husband tried a special - shrimp and crab cakes benedict, which turned out very nice, and my daughter went for the more traditional eggs benedict, which was a hit! I was surprised to hear from several people it is their favorite breakfast in Charleston, not just at Folly, and I would say it did measure up! We actually returned a 2nd time before heading homeward, and all tried other dishes. Sat and Sun mornings are very busy, but when we went in on a weekday morning, we had no wait at all. Lost Dog Cafe was a hit for our family!

Walkable distance to the beach + amazing food (she-crab soup ftw!) + super cute atmosphere = win win win in my opinion. I love this place. My friend who lives in Charleston took us here and I fell in love!!! This place is a must.

I've been living on james island all my life how did I miss out on this! The shrimps and grits it lives up to all the positive reviews.Best I've had by far! It was my first visit there, and I told the cashier that I've heard a lot of good things he was friendly, the whole staff was friendly the cooks were in the back singing having a good ole time lol. The food came out at a fast pace didn't leave me enough time to look at all the dog photos but ohh I will be back. The whole place is decorated for the love of dogs. From funny pictures to amazing pictures you can really tell these people care for their pets so that just left a warm feeling in my heart to see this. There is a outside patio so you can bring your dog (best friend) with you they have dog (best friends) bowls all around in case your dog (best friend) gets thirsty. Wow such an amazing idea that should be launched world wide I feel. Having the freedom makes it such a better experience. Not only is the food really good but the overall experience was worth it. Im bringing everyone I know here. They deserve the attention being on a side road not so noticable. GPS them or look up the address.Just don't miss out!

Folly Beach, South Carolina is a mix of crunchy Asheville and the relaxed, but rough around the edges vibe of the Florida Keys. Lost Dog Café fits right in there, with a casual vibe celebrating beach living and tail wagging. Big time praise and apologies go out to the staff. They took good care of our group of three mommies and six overtired, glass breaking, tantrum and food throwing little boys all four years old and younger. They were gracious and fast, and offered bagel chips and other necessary diversions while our meals were cooking. I had that day's special, which was black bean cakes topped with eggs, tomatillo sauce and cheddar cheese. It was good, but The Flying Biscuit's version with red onions and feta cheese is superior. Because of the aforementioned children who accompanied us, it was difficult to take a look at the menu for long, so next time I'd like to try something else of which I don't have preconceived notions.

Maybe, I love the Lost Dog Cafe because I get to enjoy it while vacationing in Folly Beach (awesome beach town) and lazing the days away in the sweet sunshine. No, I think the quality of food, ambiance, and service speak for themselves. The Lost Dog Cafe ROCKS MY WORLD! This dog friendly restaurant is adorned with pictures of man's best friend and serves up some of the best breakfast in town (breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros, bagel sandwiches and their signature shrimp n' grits). From the mason jar water glasses to a staff in fun tie dye shirts, this relaxing, eclectic restaurant would be my model if I were ever to open a restaurant. I love it there!

My brother LOVED his shrimp & grits. Best of the trip. The she-crab soup was packed with crab - way more than way more expensive places in Charleston. The Fried Green Tomato BLT was super as was the breakfast burrito. The dog had a great time hanging out on the patio with us too. This place was overall one of the 2 best places we ate in the area over 10 days.

  • Emily K.

The Lost Dog is definitely worth the wait. There's almost always a wait out the door. The first day we went, we didn't wait long for a table, but service was a bit slow. The second day we went, we waited longer for a table, but the service was much quicker. Fortunately, we were staying within walking distance, so we didn't have to worry about parking. The food is always good and there's plenty of variety. I got the pancakes the first day and could barely put a dent in them. They came out hot and had bananas and strawberries on top. The second day I got a cup of the fruit parfait (huge!), home fries, and a biscuit. The biscuit was warm, flaky, and delicious. The home fries had been cooked with tons of garlic and were nice and crunchy. The parfait had a nice variety of fruit and the granola added a nice crunch to it. No matter what you order, you probably won't be hungry for several hours. This is not the place for people who don't like dogs or waiting 20-30 minutes for a table.

  • Shelli G.

I really wanted to like this place. it's a perfectly nice little place, and I was glad it wasn't packed at breakfast but I found the food kind of disappointing. I got the french toast, which somehow managed to be mushy on the inside (like if you undercooked a cake) -- not inedible, but not ideal either. At least the fruit on it was very good. My husband had better luck with the huevos rancheros than I did with the french toast. I also got the yogurt/fruit/granola (which wound up being way more food than I needed) and again, fruit was good but the yogurt and granola was mediocre at best. they sell shirts etc with their logo, all of which are pretty high priced. given the abundance photos of dogs decorating the walls, I thought proceeds from the sale of this overpriced stuff might go to rescues or shelters or something, but it doesn't. that, I think, is a worse shame than my raw french toast was.

Good food, and a nice location close to the beach. We went for breakfast before going to the beach, and while the food was tasty it was a little heavy to eat just before going for a swim (though I'll chalk that up to my selection...). Nice patio area too, which is perfect for a cool day.

Overall, the food was pretty good. The shrimp and grits were very good and it was a healthy portion and had lots of bacon and green onions. The biscuit was mediocre. The pesto hummus was tasty, but they only give you two thin bagel chips. The wraps were large and very good. The potato salad was decent, as was the chicken salad.

Second trip in two days to The Lost Dog Cafe it was a joyful experience. The location is dog friendly and has a moderate selection of southern comfort food. When you stop in you have to try one of their cappuccino chocolate chunk muffins they are to die for.. I had on on my second trip and wish I had a basket of these oversized muffins to take home with me. The staff is great and accommodating, if you get there and there is a line the wait usually is no more than 20 - 30 minutes. If you can't wait that long step up to the bar and order, the iced coffee will help cool you off and the muffins will definitely satisfy your craving. I think I might have at least two more cappuccino chocolate chunk muffins before I leave this place.

My husband and I visited this place for breakfast during our anniversary trip. The service was good. There was a 20 minute wait to be seated on a Wednesday morning. Get your coffee on at a great independent business!!! Poopoo on corporate chains - love your dog and love your coffee! This place reminded me of my little pup - dog portraits line the walls and a bowl of biscuits await your pup at the door! Muffins were excellent and warm - cappuccino chip was like having a coffee and pancakes in a muffin!

Lost Dog has it all. Location, low price points, great food, good service, and the best atmosphere. I really can't think of anything negative to say about it. I would probably look around at the cute dog pictures on the walls for hours if other customers didn't think it was strange. Brunch is the best here. There can be a long-ish wait time during busy season or on weekends, but they have mimosas and bloody marys available from the bar while you wait. It is definitely a required stop for anyone visiting Folly, no doubt about it.

I was in Folly Beach for 6 days and I ate at Lost Dog 3 times! It was amazing! Definitely the best restaurant in Folly Beach. The food is fresh, the patio is wonderful, and they have a killer cinnamon roll. I had the grilled shrimp quesadillas, the black bean burger, and the turkey croissant. All of them were amazing. They're hummus is incredible. if you're in Folly Beach you NEED to find this place.

Absolutely an amazing restaurant! I've been here about 5 times now, and I haven't disappointed once. The atmosphere is very lively, and laid back. My favorite item on the menu is the breakfast burrito. I've also had the shrimp n' grits, huevos rancheros, but I keep coming back to the breakfast burrito. The portions are huge and very filling. You will not leave the place hungry or in a bad mood!

I first ate at the Lost Dog 7 years ago (when it was about the only place to eat in Folly beach). Sometimes when a place expands and moves it loses that "something" -- not the case with the Lost Dog. Everything is excellent. Very nice coffee's and baked goods. Have a Cinnamon Roll and and an Americano and then dare to disagree with my stars!

Great all around experience. Good food, friendly and attentive service, casual and clean atmosphere, reasonably priced. We ate outside on the front porch. There are also tables in the garden to the side. And of course inside the restaurant. Coffee was outstanding. Portions were generous. We really enjoyed our food and others around us seemed equally happy. Ingredients were fresh and they didn't load dishes up with lots of grease or butter. So you could actually taste the quality of the ingredients. Like the fresh eggs. The Lost Dog would be a regular spot for us if it were located in Seattle.

Laid-back, friendly atmosphere. Dog friendly a plus. Big portions of food, but it's soooo good you'll finish it all without thinking twice! A must eat if you are in the Folly Beach, SC area! Food quality is consistent even when it gets busy.

I would return if I came back to this area. We ordered the daily special: veggie quiche and banana bread french toast. Our meals were awesome! I was particularly impressed with the cheese grits.

Excellent!! Breakfast and drinks - you just cant get any better than that. Food was excellent and my bloody mary was the best i've had in Charleston. We sat outside with our bulldog and had such a great time. Wait staff was fast and friendly. LOVE this place!

Had lost dog for breakfast, very tasty. My husband had the special, vegetable quiche with grits and fruit, what a deal, and he said it was very good. Friendly service and wide selection. I would recommend this place and I will go back to try their lunch.

First time here , had breakfast. Great menu and staff, friendly, fun photos all around.

  • Terry P.

Great food, comfortable ambiance - sort of like a pub - and more dog pictures than you can imagine. I had the breakfast burrito & it was HUGE and yummy. The fresh fruit salad was delish, too.

Our family ordered from both the breakfast and lunch menu and let me tell you that we were not disappointed. Their cinnamon roll is light and flavorful, their fish is fresh, their food is southern. Not only that, but their staff is friendly and the food came out quickly! How can you beat that?

Loved it!!!

Atmosphere, service and food all on point. Large portions, large cups of good coffee and prompt service. Parking is a little tricky. Mostly street parking and it gets very busy there and I'm told long lines in the weekends. Would rate #1 breakfast spot on Folly

LOVE the atmosphere here... Great huevos rancheros and mimosas! If you're going here you have to get the cinnamon bun!

This is a family fav! We do not visit without eating here. Shrimp and grits are fantastic and atmosphere is super chill. Get there early through the wait can get lengthy.

This cafe is super cute! The banana nutbread french toast was the best breakfast I've ever had! The seating outside was great to breathe the salty air. Our waitress was outstanding on the southern charm.Take a nap on the beach after you eat to relax!

  • Jennifer K.

I have eaten biscuits and gravy from Cincinnati to Florida and most places in between... Trust me when I say, THESE ARE THE BEST... I would travel to James island for the B&G alone!

One of my favorite brunch spots in Charleston. BEST BISCUIT AND GRAVY EVER! Service is ALMOST always friendly and quick. We go here at least once a week. Absolutely amazing food. Love the atmosphere and of course its pet friendly!

We ate breakfast here one morning while on a trip to Folly Beach. The food and service was very good. Make sure to get a cinnamon roll.

Clearly the best breakfast at Folly by a mile. Be prepared to wait. Or call in your order to go.
